  • Disabling the Right Mouse button now disables pop-up menus invoked by the Applications Key and the Shift-F10 key also.

:. Changes in 4.71

  • We introduced a couple of problems with 4.70:
  • If you had icons in the Secure Desktop tray icon area, Secure Desktop may crash. This has been fixed.
  • The Winlogon dialog would not save information to the registry. This has been fixed.
  • When maximizing Secure Desktop, it just widens the dialog, it no longer moves to the top of the screen.

  • Added tab to options dialog to set NumLock, CapsLock, and ScrollLock.
  • Added sFile, a mini-file manager for copying files.
  • Added lock icons on password protected tabs.
  • Put option in for domain name in title bar for NT.
  • Included manual in Adobe pdf format in the upgrade and purchased exe.
  • Fixed an Alt-F4 problem in NT.
  • Now set screen size to max to avoid "ghost" taskbar.
  • Compiled with new version of compiler.

  • Note: 4.65 was not officially released...
  • Fixed a problem with local versus domain profiling in Windows NT.
  • Fixed a Logoff/Restart/Shutdown problem with Windows NT, when running with Norton AntiVirus.
  • Fixed a problem with Ctrl-Esc trapping in Windows NT, introduced with 4.63.
  • Added the domain or computer name in the title bar of Secure Desktop in Windows NT.
  • Changed display of trayicons slightly, for better results.
  • Fixed conflict problem with hotkey keyboard trapping and Always On Top setting.

  • Added Tray Icon Window on right side of tabs. Any application, started by Secure Desktop, that would normally create a tray icon in the Explorer Desktop should appear in this window when Secure Desktop is running as the shell.
  • Added the ability to turn off the mouse clicks for the new Tray Icon window. This checkbox is in the keystroke/password tab of the options dialog. By default, mouse clicks are disabled.
  • Fixed a small display area concerning the small locks next to password protected icons.

  • Added a new time picker for the timed application start that is a little more user friendly.
  • You now have an option in the WinLogon options for our GINA, Microsoft's GINA, or no change (if you are using a different one altogether).
  • Secure Desktop will only run as one instance now.
  • The Window Wizard will not accept a setting of top level menu if there was not a top level menu in the window selected.
  • The command line parser was not working if a directory was EXE, this has been fixed.
  • The ability to re-enable the right mouse button was added to the list in the Supervisor configuration dialog.
  • If a user is not given the ability to exit NT, they can still log-off using Secure Desktop now.
  • Esc is now one of the keystrokes that can be trapped, for those running Excel macros and similar apps.
  • Startup apps can now be disabled (start tab in options dialog) for debugging purposes.
  • Some of our customers do not use Secure Desktop as the shell, so we added the ability to ask for the password when exiting Secure Desktop and we've made Ctrl-Esc trapping still work in this case.

:. Bug fix for 4.62

  • Modified registry reads to work for users that are not administrators in NT.

  • Added a password feature to the hotkey feature (options | hotkey tab).
  • Compiled with new version of compiler.
  • Fixed problem with hide flag toggling in the hide file/folder dialog.
  • Changed the WinLogon Registry dialog to make Automatic Login and Don't Display Last User Name mutually exclusive.
  • Changed icon display in Windows NT task manager list

  • Can now log disk space and memory information to disk (options-system alarm).
  • Added the ability to close a window in the window wizard. This way you can effectively block a dialog box by closing it immediately.
  • Added a show hidden files/folders to the supervisor box checklist.
  • Fixed an error message bug when starting Secure.exe on some Windows 95/98 machines introduced in 4.55.
  • Fixed a problem with the Explorer Desktop start that was introduced in version 4.55.

  • In Windows 95/98, the logoff option is now always available as our attempt to detect if a network was available was flawed.
  • In NT 4, switching to the normal task manager will now actually delete the taskman registry entry, enabling Ctrl-Esc to open the Start Menu.

  • Big change in main setup dialog, attempting to improve multi-user interface for easier editing.
  • In NT, hitting OK button will not set registry values unless they are different.
  • When Secure Desktop is minimized, it can now be moved.
  • The DDE startup was not editable, this has been fixed.
  • The event based sync date/time with DDE Server did not work. This has been fixed.
  • Some changes have been made to enable the Secure Setup button with no password if no setting for this is found.
  • Title bar matches for menu-disabling are now case-insensitive.
  • The hide folders dialog has been improved slightly.
  • We try to do a better job of picking the default icon in a situation with command-line parameters.

  • Added a feature to the Continous Window Manipulation Wizard to force a window to stay maximized or minimized.
  • Changed the application start-up back to the way it was before version 4.53 so that it executes a time delay to wait for an application to finish loading.

  • Fixed a bug in the hotkey to bring Secure Desktop to the top for Windows 95/98 users introduced with 4.50.
  • Changed the application start-up to not execute the time delay configured if no menus were set to disable.

:. New features for 4.52

  • For touchscreen users, the tab height now matches the title bar height.
  • In Windows NT, we were using a FORCE flag when shutting down, meaning that we didn't ask the applications if they were ready to shut down. We no longer user the FORCE flag.
  • We changed the minimize on startup feature slightly. The system menu was acting strange.
  • When a Secure Desktop menu item is selected from the system menu, a window restore is performed first.
  • The accelerator keystrokes used for the menu item were changed to be unique.

  • Windows 98 support. Secure Desktop now supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 3.51, and Windows NT 4.0.
  • Controlled Shutdown capability in options dialog. Can now specify the order of applications to shutdown, and a time delay between them.
  • Supervisor mode can now 'untrap' trapped keystrokes.
  • Changing the shell from Secure Desktop to Explorer and back no longer affects the GINADLL entry in the WinLogon section of the registry.
  • The ability to trap Escape-F1 has been included.
  • The method used to delay between startup applications has been changed to prevent 100% use of CPU time in NT.
  • Fixed some keystroke issues concerning losing track of state of Ctrl and Alt keys.
  • Fixed a small problem with the Group Wizard.
  • Fixed a small problem with cut/copy/paste in the icon setup dialog.
  • Improved "New Task Manager" disabling in NT 4.0 (Ctrl-Shift-Esc)

  • In Windows NT, Secure Desktop is not "on top" unless set for "always on top". The last application will be the top window
  • In the Options dialog, in the Startup tab, you can now choose between single or double click for starting applications with the mouse

  • In Windows NT, there could sometimes be a conflict between Ctrl-Esc bringing up the VA Task Manager and other trapped keys

  • Added Common Groups to Group Wizard in NT 4.0
  • Now Enable Ctrl-Alt-Del if Administrator User is set for Explorer Desktop in NT 4.0
  • In Multi-User Dialog, if Secure Desktop directory does not exist, it is created during copy process

  • Added Maximize on Startup capability.
  • Added Icon Spacing options in the startup tab of the options dialog.
  • Added caption information to password dialogs for tools.

  • Can now trap menu keys (Alt or F10) to prevent menu focus by accident.
  • Hide Files, Folders, and even whole Drives in your file open or file save dialog boxes (95 and NT 4.0 only).
  • Set some users up for Explorer Desktop and others for Secure Desktop (95 and NT 4.0 only).

:. New Features in Secure Desktop 4.13

  • Three additional keystroke combinations can be trapped in NT 4.0. These are Ctrl-Alt-Sft-Esc, Sft-Alt-F4, and Sft-Alt-Space.
  • Secure Desktop is no longer the "last" window on startup, the last startup application is topmost initially.
  • Ctrl-Esc will now bring up the Secure Desktop task manager in NT 4.0 if configured to do so.

  • Can optionally store 5-digit number in Supervisor dialog to the registry or visuauto.ini file
