Grand Ledge, MI

Visual Automation, Inc. today releases iLock 1.5 for Mozilla Firefox 1.5. The iLock name was re-cycled from a discontinued Windows 95 product. iLock is included with the new Secure Desktop 6.80, which also includes new Internet Explorer 6 functionality.

The Browser is the Desktop

Secure Desktop 6 plus Firefox 1.5 or Internet Explorer 6 is simply the best way to create a browser-based desktop system for factory automation, retail point-of-sale, hospitality kiosks, libraries, museums, schools, labs, and cafes. Anywhere a browser-based desktop is needed, Secure Desktop 6 provides the right solution.

Firefox 1.5

iLock is written as a native Firefox extension, loosely based on the discontinued iLockNess product for the Mozilla Application Suite (now re-named SeaMonkey). This extension provides the functionality to lock down the Firefox browser environment for use in a kiosk situation.

Easily Disable Keyboard Shortcuts, Menus, Toolbars, and Protocols

iLock makes it easy to run Firefox in Full Screen mode (F11), while disabling functionality that is not directly related to browsing the internet.

Automatically Delete Private Data

If the browser is not on the home page after x number of minutes, you can re-start Firefox and delete all private data automatically. Private data is also deleted whenever Firefox is closed.

Availability and Pricing

iLock is currently included with Secure Desktop, and is available direct from Visual Automation, Inc. or any of its authorized resellers at the list price of $195 USD, 5-pack of $700, and 10-pack of $1,275 immediately. Online purchasing is available via our online reseller Kagi at

System Requirements

iLock 1.5 is designed for Mozilla Firefox 1.5 for Windows. Firefox is designed for Windows 98/98SE/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Server 2003, however Windows XP is recommended.
